Our Mission

The Art of Integration's mission is to heal the impact of trauma from adverse childhood and life events through psycho education, exploration of creativity, community connection and expanded states of consciousness.

Integration means coming into contact with all parts of our selves and connecting those scared or hurt parts together with our loving and wise parts. Integration also means applying the insights gained in therapy into lifestyle adjustments and healthy communication in relationships.

The Art of Integration practice will be expanding to include music, dance, poetry and drama therapy services for clients who have a passion for the healing power of the creative arts. AOI will also add MDMA and psilocybin treatments for mood disorders as they become legally available.

AOI currently offers an innovative treatment called Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP). The Art of Integration assists clients as they delve into altered states of consciousness using arts or Ketamine therapy to integrate the benefits and wisdom from these expanded states.

AOI specializes in working with clients who have felt "othered" or like outsiders in society in some way. AOI values inclusivity, diversity and social justice and welcomes clients from all identities and backgrounds.

J Lyn Thomas, LCAT

Stress, difficult life transitions, loneliness, micro and macro aggressions, work overwhelm, relationship difficulties, and traumatic experiences impact not just our thoughts, but also our bodies and how we move through our daily lives. Through body-based interventions, we can holistically address your emotional, behavioral, and cognitive health.

In each session, I co-create a judgment-free and curiosity-filled space with you. Sessions are a blend of movement experiences and verbal processing. I draw from African Psychology and movement traditions along with strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and PolyVagal Theory. My goal is to meet you where you are and move alongside you to achieve your therapy goals.

I am a New York State Licensed Creative Arts Therapist and I specialize in working with Black, Indigenous, POC and LGBTQIA+ teens and adults in virtual and in-person sessions.

With a long standing passion for psychology and an extensive dance background, J Lyn learned early on in life how powerful it is to be connected to your body while recovering from traumatic experiences, maneuvering school and work-based stress, and surviving the violence of oppression. Eager to learn more about the power of the body in psychology, J Lynobtained her Masters of Science in Creative Arts Therapies with a focus on Dance/Movement Psychotherapy from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY.
